LITLIT Workshop: Navigating the Field

Noelle Falcis Math, Literary Agent with the Transatlantic Literary Agency, will shed light on the nuances of what happens after writers finish their work -- how does one successfully look for and query an agent whilst modeling a mindful professional practice? What is the makeup of the query letter, and what should it entail? And, last, once an offer of representation (or more!) is on the table, how does one secure a collaborative creative-professional relationship? Noelle has a heightened awareness and empathy for the writer's journey being a fiction writer herself, and having obtained her BA and MFA in Creative Writing.

Noelle Falcis Math has garnered a breadth of experience as a writer and editor before transitioning into agenting. She holds a BA and MFA in English and Creative Writing, and has received fellowships or residencies from VONA (Voices of Our Nations), Tinhouse, The Seventh Wave, and Lemontree House. Through these experiences, she realized the lack of knowledge accessible to marginalized writers, which fueled her interest in publishing. In 2021, she completed the Los Angeles Review of Books’ Publishing Workshop and Transatlantic Agency’s BIPOC mentorship program. She then became an Associate Agent and began building her list, spearheading sales of her clients’ works into literary strongholds such as One World, Graywolf, Knopf, Little Brown, and Penguin Poets, amongst others. Her growing client list includes experimental poets m. mick powell and Lana Reeves; critical essayists, Raksha Vasudevan, Sanni McCandless Honnold, and Elda María Román; and genre-blending novelists, Jasmine Kuliasha and Stefany Valentine.
