Shawn Wen is a writer and audio journalist. She is author of the book A Twenty Minute Silence Followed by Applause (Sarabande, 2017), which won the Krause Essay Prize from the Iowa Nonfiction Writing Program. Her writing has appeared in The Believer, Iowa Review, and White Review, among other publications. Her radio work has broadcast on This American Life, Freakonomics Radio, and Marketplace and she is currently a senior producer at Bloomberg News. Wen was born in Beijing, raised in the suburbs of Atlanta, and currently resides in San Francisco.
